She is a fashion blogger and loves wearing the most recent trends. “What I love the most about fashion is that you can dress yourself the way you want. For example, today, I'm chic, but tomorrow I'm a rock star!” Dianne told me. Let’s see what <strong>Dianne Dequina</strong> has to say about clothes, trends, and fashion!</p> <p align="justify"><img style="margin: 0px auto; display: block; float: none" title="Dianne Dequina" alt="Dianne Dequina" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-PuMLhjIOwe0/T3QHBCeqvQI/AAAAAAAAA1s/UqVHdmvZB4Q/Dianne%252520Dequina%252520%2525283%252529%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="299" height="433" /></p> <p align="justify">“You can express your feelings and your mood by how you dress. In this picture taken for Vogue Paris last 2002, Maggie poses naked while sitting on am old chair.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="margin: 0px auto; display: block; float: none" title="Maggie Rizer" alt="Maggie Rizer" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-2H5UFzOavh8/T2RUQiYla_I/AAAAAAAAA0E/hgzGzUrltd0/Maggie%252520Rizer%25255B7%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="466" height="583" /></p> <p align="justify">Couple Lamsweerde and Matadin have taken way too many beautiful photographs to have gone unnoticed all this time. This explains why <a href="http://trinketprincess.blogspot.com/2012/03/taschen-published-lamsweerde-matadin.html" target="_blank">Taschen</a> has compiled their photographs and turned this into a book called <strong>Pretty Much Everything</strong>.</p> <p align="justify">Actually, <strong>Lamsweerde and Matadin</strong> have been taking photographs of Maggie Rizer ever since she started modeling. She used to be young and innocent, which they captured in her earlier pictures. Both photographers claimed that Maggie Rizer’s strength was her striking innocence.</p> <p align="justify">Through the years, Rizer stayed fresh and still had an aura of gentleness around her, even as her career started to catapult to success. But recently, she has gotten pregnant and she is about to become a mother.</p> <p align="justify">Even with motherhood just around the corner, <strong>Maggie Rizer</strong> still looked quite innocent and beautifully naïve in photographs, something both Lamsweerde and Matadin adored. They also loved how Maggie Rizer has always been in their pictures, since she was much younger until she grows close to becoming a mother.</p> <p align="justify">Maggie Rizer has grown in front of Matadin and Lamweerde’s cameras, growing with a grace that turns a young lady into a mother. Her life has been captured in their pictures, something the couple was quite happy about.</p> <p align="justify">In the picture above, even when <strong>Maggie Rizer</strong> was totally naked, she still looked very innocent. It would be close to impossible to get a picture of a naked woman who still looks impishly childish. The naked photograph almost looks untainted and innocent, reminiscent of who Maggie Rizer used to be in real life when she was much younger.</p> <p align="justify">Lamsweerde and Matadin have had quite a career and a life together as a couple and as a team, photographing wonderful moments in fashion and art. Read more about the couple and the many iconic photographs they have taken in <strong>Pretty Much Everything</strong>, the book compiled for them by Taschen. In that book, you will also see Maggie Rizer as she poses for Matadin and Lamsweerde.</p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5639148004793096706.post-75424868540037649752012-03-20T01:51:00.000-07:002012-03-20T01:51:00.106-07:00Juicy Couture: Butts into Billboards<p align="justify">Juicy Couture turns butts into billboards, with different celebrities offering their butts as space for Juicy Couture advertising. <strong>Gela Nash Taylor</strong> and <strong>Pamela Skaist Levy</strong>, the brains behind <strong>Juicy Couture</strong>, thought that making women’s asses a platform for advertising was a good call.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="margin: 0px auto; display: block; float: none" title="Juicy Couture butt" alt="Juicy Couture butt" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Xl-Is2207rA/T2RQkIoh-_I/AAAAAAAAAzs/aqx08HEMppk/Juicy%252520Couture%252520butt%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="321" height="435" /></p> <p align="justify">However, the two founders have left Juicy Couture. They have started <strong>Skaist-Taylor</strong>, another fashion baby of theirs that deserves its spot in the limelight. It borrows trends from California fashion, with a hint of weirdness.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="margin: 0px auto; display: block; float: none" title="Skaist-Taylor" alt="Skaist-Taylor" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-IC-lCrRWJkA/T2RQlTj8PfI/AAAAAAAAAz0/rj1_FIFVtNU/Skaist-Taylor%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="511" height="342" /></p> <p align="justify">Expect a lot of fur, animal skin, leather, and other details that speak of individuality. Of course, not all the details are being revealed just yet. Skaist-Taylor will soon reveal what the brand is all about, but now is not the time.</p> <p align="justify">Their very first presentation is highly anticipated. The fashion world holds its breath, wondering if Juicy Couture will look anything like Skaist-Taylor. Or will <strong>Skaist-Taylor</strong> be so much better?</p> <p align="justify">The space for the presentation is being designed by renowned architects Antonio Monfreda and Patrick Kinmonth. They were actually the architects behind the 45th anniversary celebratory exhibit by the giant fashion brand Valentino. In other words, Skaist-Taylor has something huge under wraps, and its unfolding is probably to die for.</p> <p align="justify">Juicy Couture has been seen by many as almost tacky and very reminiscent of New Jersey’s worst fashion, but many people still wear this brand. The clothes from Juicy Couture, in my rather amateur opinion, are too loud and reminiscent of bubblegum pop movies. I don’t own a single piece of Juicy Couture clothing… And I also hate their bags.</p> <p align="justify">But Skaist-Taylor is supposed to be different. I don’t know if this new brand is going to be anything like Juicy Couture, but I do hope not! I like the fact that Skaist-Taylor has a lot of leather; that is more my style.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="margin: 0px auto; display: block; float: none" title="Skaist-Taylor Fall 2012" alt="Skaist-Taylor Fall 2012" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-zPRbacjWmCg/T2RQmw_cMVI/AAAAAAAAAz4/FWu9qzisXTE/Skaist-Taylor%252520Fall%2525202012%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="299" height="447" /></p> <p align="justify">But I’m holding off judgment until I see the first collection of Skaist-Taylor. I don’t want to be discouraged by the fact that the brains behind it are also the founders of Juicy Couture. Let’s wait and see. One thing is for sure: Skaist Taylor, unlike <strong>Juicy Couture</strong>, will not turn <strong>butts into billboards</strong>.</p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5639148004793096706.post-77835703316745977822012-03-18T00:01:00.000-07:002012-03-18T00:01:00.813-07:00Lady Gaga Ousted… by Whom?<p align="justify">Lady Gaga has been pushed aside by a more ordinary citizen of the music world, <strong>Azealia Banks</strong>! Okay, maybe Lady Gaga will always have her spot in the limelight, but it looks like the fashion industry has found a new favorite and <strong>Lady Gaga</strong> has to take a backseat for now.</p> <p align="justify">Lady Gaga wears the most iconic and most ridiculous dresses, both in her music videos and in events. She pulls it off wonderfully, but her dresses are almost impossible to wear by ordinary citizens like me! Maybe the weird and unorthodox have to give way to the regular and conventional, because the rather ordinary-looking Azealia Banks is now the new favorite.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Azealia Banks" border="0" alt="Azealia Banks" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-v0sdlRpkb5I/T2Q24Sks9wI/AAAAAAAAAzk/7fKtpr6v8qQ/Azealia%252520Banks%25255B7%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="324" height="493" /></p> <p align="justify">I have to admit, I don’t appreciate her blue locks. They look a bit tacky on her, and I think that despite the gorgeous clothes, she has to take care of her hair and makeup. But that’s just me and I’m no expert!</p> <p align="justify">Azealia Banks has also been photographed by photography power couple <a href="http://trinketprincess.blogspot.com/2012/03/taschen-published-lamsweerde-matadin.html" target="_blank">Matadin and Lamsweerde</a>. She has released a YouTube video that has actually gone viral. Even the iconic fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has wanted her to wear his designs, something that speaks volumes in the world of fashion.</p> <p align="justify">Soon, Azealia Banks shall go on an album tour in the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, her tour will coincide with the New York fashion shows, so she probably won’t be showing up there.</p> <p align="justify">Would you vote for <strong>Azealia Banks</strong> over <strong>Lady Gaga</strong>? Do you think she can outdo her? Do you think she deserves to be the newest muse of the fashion and music industry alike? Or is Lady Gaga still the goddess, or is Azealia Banks the newly crowned queen?</p> <p align="justify"></p> <p align="justify">Even if <strong>Lady Gaga gets ousted by Aaealia Banks</strong>, she will still be one of my favorite artists. It will take time before I warmed up to the likes of Banks, but is it not always like that anyway? We all have our own pets, and then there are those whom we just can’t seem to appreciate. In any case, Lady Gage can get ousted by anyone, but she will still be the ultimate muse in my book.</p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5639148004793096706.post-71066814144159671392012-03-16T23:43:00.001-07:002012-03-16T23:43:13.448-07:00Taschen published Lamsweerde, Matadin<p align="justify"><strong>Taschen</strong> finally publishes works of <strong>Inez van Lamsweerde</strong> plus her husband <strong>Vinoodh Matadin</strong>. I’m telling you, this couple takes great pictures, and their photos can be quite controversial! If you and your boyfriend were both photographers, would you be working on the same project? If you did, would you come up with such gorgeous pictures like the one below?</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Me Kissing Vinoodh, Lovingly" border="0" alt="Me Kissing Vinoodh, Lovingly" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-0VTwwQDLSm4/T2Qyc8KgTgI/AAAAAAAAAzM/7ugVG9ebxho/Me%252520Kissing%252520Vinoodh%25252C%252520Lovingly%25255B6%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="451" height="354" /></p> <p align="justify">Lamsweerde said that the above picture was a portrait of fear and love. Fear, because one would be quite afraid to lose someone you love so much. Aw, that’s just sweet. But the nudity and the passionate kiss has definitely made this photograph very controversial!</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Querelle" border="0" alt="Querelle" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-vZdPbF3PLQw/T2Qyd2FhbgI/AAAAAAAAAzU/3EDsyKVjJIk/Querelle%25255B8%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="335" height="441" /></p> <p align="justify">Above, you see a picture of Querelle taken for W Magazine last 2004. Here, Querelle posed for Lamsweerde and Matadin, pretending to be a doll. And take note of the pins which you find scattered all over the floor – it’s supposed to be from Querelle’s updo, which looked messy. The portrait describes how it is to look beautiful and how it is to look like a mess. There is something so intriguing about the contrast of both entities.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Alexander McQueen" border="0" alt="Alexander McQueen" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-Bh9PWYolpbE/T2Qyfe_x33I/AAAAAAAAAzc/PUzle5-BvMk/Alexander%252520McQueen%25255B6%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="397" height="401" /></p> <p align="justify">Lastly, I would like to include Alexander McQueen as one of the photos featured in this post. Here, the couple took a picture of McQueen wearing a bandana that made him look like he had the face of a skeleton, like he was skinned to show his insides. Actually, McQueen was very obsessed with dying and the macabre, which was why this was one of his favorite pictures, according to Matadin and  Lamsweerde. This photo was taken last 2004.</p> <p align="justify"><strong>Taschen</strong> has already published their work, called <strong>Pretty Much Everything</strong>, and it’s worth about $700. Whew! A price I’m going to have to save for, but the pictures are just beautiful, aren’t they? Couple Matadin and Lamsweerde are definitely talented. And I’m just so jealous that they are also head over heels for each other. The book Pretty Much Everything by <strong>Matadin and Lamsweerde</strong> contains pictures of different supermodels, celebrities, and other iconic images.</p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5639148004793096706.post-23906864067764349502012-03-09T11:45:00.000-08:002012-03-09T11:45:00.119-08:00Alexis Mabille Spring 2012<p align="justify"><strong>Alexis Mabille</strong> is a brilliant designer who probably hates black and white. I say that with affection, of course, because the way she plays with color justifies her veering away from anything too bland. And the <strong>Spring 2012 Alexis Mabille collection</strong> is a proud display of vibrant colors.</p> <p align="justify">All dresses have personality. All outfits are of one color from head to toe. If you are a puritan, you would love to invest in a few of the clothes from the Alexis Mabille S/S 2012 collection. During the fashion show, models’ faces were painted with the colors corresponding with the dresses they wore. They also had giant fake flowers which they wore as hats. Couture sure does bring out a lot of almost-weird but artsy stuff!</p> <p align="justify">But, just as is the case with many designers, you will either love it or hate it. It’s your chance to decide – look at the clothes from the Spring 2012 collection of Alexis Mabille and let me know if you’re loving it or hating it.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Alexis Mabille 2012 (1)" border="0" alt="Alexis Mabille 2012 (1)" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Z9d1HY5zoVs/T0ZWz-LgTfI/AAAAAAAAAm0/lFBKPvhYdvo/Alexis%252520Mabille%2525202012%252520%2525281%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Alexis Mabille 2012 (2)" border="0" alt="Alexis Mabille 2012 (2)" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-RQ74Q9ohh_4/T0ZW1PCg_HI/AAAAAAAAAm8/G6KZ6UrWhvE/Alexis%252520Mabille%2525202012%252520%2525282%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">Yellow as a color is hard enough to pull off when you are wearing it from head to toe, and it becomes nearly impossible to wear it in real life if it’s the only color of an actual three-piece suit! I would take these pieces apart and wear them separately. Each item would be a nice accent for a regular day to day outfit.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Alexis Mabille 2012 (3)" border="0" alt="Alexis Mabille 2012 (3)" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-FK0nRZJwXhg/T0ZW23QJRwI/AAAAAAAAAnE/OKRMthvEL_I/Alexis%252520Mabille%2525202012%252520%2525283%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">The powder blue dress above looks a little too prom-night for me. But I bet a Hollywood actress might wear this for a red carpet event. I love the frayed hem though, plus the empire cut would be flattering for most women.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Alexis Mabille 2012 (4)" border="0" alt="Alexis Mabille 2012 (4)" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-Y0oasB_vb4I/T0ZW4DixdvI/AAAAAAAAAnM/TkgdHdO10NE/Alexis%252520Mabille%2525202012%252520%2525284%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Alexis Mabille 2012 (5)" border="0" alt="Alexis Mabille 2012 (5)" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/--Ky8052omRE/T0ZW7YuTWVI/AAAAAAAAAnU/Xn3DiAZs06E/Alexis%252520Mabille%2525202012%252520%2525285%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">The orange ensemble caught my eye because of the skirt. I loved it! I want to be able to wear a sleek skirt that goes all the way to the floor, but I would wear it with a tube top with a sweetheart neckline.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Alexis Mabille 2012 (6)" border="0" alt="Alexis Mabille 2012 (6)" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-g5KH1BSbHZ4/T0ZW-n4fPWI/AAAAAAAAAnc/g_aqudLxi_g/Alexis%252520Mabille%2525202012%252520%2525286%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Alexis Mabille 2012 (7)" border="0" alt="Alexis Mabille 2012 (7)" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-1AiTyPxpMLE/T0ZXAA2DmII/AAAAAAAAAnk/gqEMUbHB8b8/Alexis%252520Mabille%2525202012%252520%2525287%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Alexis Mabille 2012 (8)" border="0" alt="Alexis Mabille 2012 (8)" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-zwhvRYWbXeE/T0ZXBBQ_BcI/AAAAAAAAAns/1PR-38esiZ0/Alexis%252520Mabille%2525202012%252520%2525288%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">This last dress is one of my favorites. I love the ribbon sleeves and the very classic silhouette. Of course, I’m a fan of prints, which makes this one of my top picks, given how <strong>Alexis Mabille </strong>used mostly solid colors for the entire spring collection.</p> <p align="justify">Before I forget, what do you think of the Alexis Mabille S/S 2012 line? See any clothes you like? Or have you had better? Oh well, it’s just as well. These probably cost a fortune, anyway. </p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5639148004793096706.post-43158333154663736942012-03-08T23:28:00.000-08:002012-03-08T23:28:00.332-08:00Banana Republic RTW 2012<p align="justify">Banana Republic has always made me drool. I drop by their shop, go through the clothes, pretend I can afford the entire store – and leave with my jaw still dropping and my eyes still out of their sockets. And <strong>Banana Republic</strong> boasts of a wonderful <strong>Spring 2012 RTW</strong> collection. Oh, no, more clothes I can’t afford but want to buy!</p> <p align="justify">Okay, now that I’ve dried my tears, I can tell you a little more about <strong>Banana Republic</strong> and their RTW line for spring this year. If you have a great figure and you’ve really been keeping fit, then you would look good in a Banana Republic ensemble. Their silhouettes are skinny-friendly, with waistlines emphasized and dresses hugging your body.</p> <p align="justify">Here are a few highlights of the Banana Republic collection. Which ensemble do you love best?</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Banana Republic Spring 2012 RTW (1)" border="0" alt="Banana Republic Spring 2012 RTW (1)" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-lAtVcuuC940/T0ZpTm8AccI/AAAAAAAAApU/caNf0X-UzFs/Banana%252520Republic%252520Spring%2525202012%252520RTW%252520%2525281%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Banana Republic Spring 2012 RTW (2)" border="0" alt="Banana Republic Spring 2012 RTW (2)" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/--0CUf9Jv58M/T0ZpVsnc3AI/AAAAAAAAApc/dIksjZunZm0/Banana%252520Republic%252520Spring%2525202012%252520RTW%252520%2525282%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Banana Republic Spring 2012 RTW (3)" border="0" alt="Banana Republic Spring 2012 RTW (3)" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-3fSCUgkF2fw/T0ZpWrgnt5I/AAAAAAAAApk/36je4ev8_v8/Banana%252520Republic%252520Spring%2525202012%252520RTW%252520%2525283%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Banana Republic Spring 2012 RTW (4)" border="0" alt="Banana Republic Spring 2012 RTW (4)" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-aciPHmoZ64g/T0ZpX0TDyaI/AAAAAAAAAps/UDlAyCuIoCM/Banana%252520Republic%252520Spring%2525202012%252520RTW%252520%2525284%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">I have always loved how their clothes are so Park Avenue. The belt does go around the waist, something most women dread, but the ruched hem will camouflage any bulges. This is the continuation of my post on the Jil Sander Fall 2012 RTW line by Raf Simons. As I mentioned yesterday, <strong>Raf Simons</strong> has announced that this was going to be his last collection for Jil Sander… and <strong>Jil Sander</strong> herself is coming back to take his place. </p> <p align="justify">Oddly enough, people don’t seem to be too enthusiastic about this change. Perhaps that’s because Raf Simons did such a great job for the past seven years or so at Jil Sander. Maybe they’ve grown to really like all the collections he has presented in the past seasons. For whatever reason, the fact that Simons is leaving Jil Sander has upset many fans of this brand.</p> <p align="justify">But even that drama was not enough to dampen the mood during the fashion show for the Jil Sander Fall 2012 RTW collection. Here are more of the fab clothes and outfits paraded out on the catwalk.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Jil Sander Fall 2012 (13)" border="0" alt="Jil Sander Fall 2012 (13)" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-4AFGnAKNG9s/T0nd-XBZW8I/AAAAAAAAAwc/Iu8H-nko-mw/Jil%252520Sander%252520Fall%2525202012%252520%25252813%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">A wonderful onesie that does not look childish or dated. The jumpsuit was a popular trend in the previous year, but this take on that trend is very much updated.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Jil Sander Fall 2012 (14)" border="0" alt="Jil Sander Fall 2012 (14)" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-6isEg9YXjrQ/T0nd_urjXII/AAAAAAAAAwk/5FpJc2TfySk/Jil%252520Sander%252520Fall%2525202012%252520%25252814%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Jil Sander Fall 2012 (15)" border="0" alt="Jil Sander Fall 2012 (15)" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-za4Cj1vqkdE/T0neApf1f8I/AAAAAAAAAws/X9dff6NJt5o/Jil%252520Sander%252520Fall%2525202012%252520%25252815%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">Wonderful cutout at the front of this dress. I only hope they have one that’s a little shorter – long dresses don’t flatter my legs very much.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Jil Sander Fall 2012 (16)" border="0" alt="Jil Sander Fall 2012 (16)" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhD4JoY1Gd-bD1q7awjqUD-4aShzXQWSQO5YXZ9ghO6h1h6V0ytqi4iQH4CeXjTqizzXibs4lrQBwQ5VGd_i4KjUnuMyyHNaAEKCDpAkt6QusvFWzbKH50KQAZ1ZUoQ2NPc9riGNwSDXc/?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">Above is a very pretty red coat, something that will definitely get everyone’s attention, if that’s what you are aiming for. Attention-whores, this is your chance to wear something tasteful!</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Jil Sander Fall 2012 (17)" border="0" alt="Jil Sander Fall 2012 (17)" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-ihnhVTXqxwQ/T0neC78Zi_I/AAAAAAAAAw8/TOJz5yLjMFU/Jil%252520Sander%252520Fall%2525202012%252520%25252817%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">Asymmetrical yet minimalist, the above dress skims the body and tries its best not to cling. That’s the kind of cut most women want.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Jil Sander Fall 2012 (18)" border="0" alt="Jil Sander Fall 2012 (18)" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-6vDChu3btsE/T0neES7n7NI/AAAAAAAAAxE/A1bq1E-_5uw/Jil%252520Sander%252520Fall%2525202012%252520%25252818%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">The above shift is like an optical illusion. It’s as if she’s wearing a tube top with a geometric cut at the front, a separate skirt, and a pink blazer. But it’s all actually just one dress!</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Jil Sander Fall 2012 (19)" border="0" alt="Jil Sander Fall 2012 (19)" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-ScmKugAPUMg/T0neFQBtkoI/AAAAAAAAAxM/gQNSLWzi5xs/Jil%252520Sander%252520Fall%2525202012%252520%25252819%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">I remember having a dress pretty much like the one above. The tailoring was made to look like a tulip skirt, but because the fabric was soft, it draped beautifully at the sides instead of puffing out.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Jil Sander Fall 2012 (20)" border="0" alt="Jil Sander Fall 2012 (20)" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-Gf0tA7WdTFw/T0neGaOc4QI/AAAAAAAAAxU/UBJHakICtkQ/Jil%252520Sander%252520Fall%2525202012%252520%25252820%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">Oh, doesn’t the above dress look like a slip instead of a dress? We shall await your first collection in a long time, holding out breaths in anticipation.</p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5639148004793096706.post-64833993517691369782012-03-06T23:25:00.000-08:002012-03-06T23:25:00.637-08:00Jil Sander Fall 2012<p align="justify">Jil Sander has been the baby of Raf Simons for about seven years. But the Fall 2012 RTW collection of <strong>Jil Sander</strong> is the last one ever to be created by <strong>Raf Simons</strong>. I write this blog post with a little sadness in my heart because I’ve always loved the clean lines and colors that Raf Simons uses for the brand. But he has to leave, now that Jil Sander herself is coming back to take care of the Jil Sander brand.</p> <p align="justify">But many critics are waiting for this change with a raised brow. I’m raising mine as well, but out of curiosity, not of skepticism. Many have grown to love Raf Simons’ creations for Jil Sander that they believe even Ms. Sander herself will never be able to top what Raf has done.</p> <p align="justify">During his last runway show, Simons was applauded and given a standing ovation. He was touched, moved, and took a bow with a bewildered, bittersweet expression on his face. It’s just all too sad, I say.</p> <p align="justify">But let’s not allow all the emotion to upstage the actual <strong>fall 2012</strong> collection, which was excellent. <strong>Jil Sander</strong> <strong>RTW</strong> line for fall this year is going to be tough, if not impossible, to beat. Judge for yourself.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Jil Sander Fall 2012 (1)" border="0" alt="Jil Sander Fall 2012 (1)" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-4tjzyVqQUYc/T0nYtaF8Q8I/AAAAAAAAAu8/D2TZLfdXeHs/Jil%252520Sander%252520Fall%2525202012%252520%2525281%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">I love how the inner lining has a different color from that of the outer fabric. It all looks very mod, in a way. Ever since Gianni Versace’s death, the entire Versace house has been pressured to come up with clothes that shall equal his genius. Donatella Versace, his sister, has taken over and continues his legacy by trying to match what Gianni has presented the world. </p> <p align="justify"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-PJuduYAxqPw/T0kXf0klraI/AAAAAAAAAsE/zFQySpsCPk8/s1600-h/Versace%252520Fall%2525202012%252520RTW%252520%2525288%252529%25255B2%25255D%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Versace Fall 2012 RTW (8)[2]" border="0" alt="Versace Fall 2012 RTW (8)[2]" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-hAmzF2dn7RQ/T0kXheSCE0I/AAAAAAAAAsM/AtflD5pO474/Versace%252520Fall%2525202012%252520RTW%252520%2525288%252529%25255B2%25255D_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></a></p> <p align="justify">I am so in love with the shade of yellow used in the above outfit. Versace is brilliant! Donatella, you have definitely done it this year.</p> <p align="justify"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-Eeh_exKEJbY/T0kXkZcM8gI/AAAAAAAAAsU/8cHkSKy9noE/s1600-h/Versace%252520Fall%2525202012%252520RTW%252520%2525289%252529%25255B2%25255D%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Versace Fall 2012 RTW (9)[2]" border="0" alt="Versace Fall 2012 RTW (9)[2]" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-Q_0K5VbWkj0/T0kXlrxkrUI/AAAAAAAAAsc/lsOt7SvuRqM/Versace%252520Fall%2525202012%252520RTW%252520%2525289%252529%25255B2%25255D_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></a></p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Versace Fall 2012 RTW (13)" border="0" alt="Versace Fall 2012 RTW (13)" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVn0JJAOS6m0OPx2Cr95t5y1y1Kx-eP6gq-Tj8RxsohyphenhyphenzFos2268w_I5P67wXO__sxXzS0jiMKpp8pTdvSIxtdgvcxe89ML915smlrsShKaofBw82lIv9Ax898B9spZKJ2kyTfRN3Hylc/?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">Oh, what I’d do to have this orange dress above! Fierce design from Versace. I like how the dress skims the body without clinging too tight. Nice big stitching, wonderful shape – notice how the dress “fakes” an hourglass figure by ballooning a little bit at the hips? I remember that trend decades ago; I’m not surprised it should resurface now. The <strong>Versace</strong> crew called it the “high bang”. Appropriate, if you ask me.</p> <p align="justify">Oh, Versace, may you create more collections that continue to inspire fashion lovers such as <em>moi</em>. You are a genius! The RTW line from <strong>Versace A/W 2012</strong> will haunt me the entire year. You are one of my greatest loves. And no matter what happens, I shall always secretly admire your collections, especially the <strong>Fall 2012 collection</strong> that recently graced the <strong>Versace</strong> runway. It is one of the best catwalk displays – <em>ever</em>.</p> <p align="justify"><strong>Versace A/W 2012 RTW</strong> collection is like my favorite fashion line right now. If I were to own just one dress from this line, I’d be in fashion heaven. I hope my fashion godmothers are listening!</p> <p align="justify">It’s my pleasure to present to you my top picks from the Versace Fall 2012 RTW collection. These are among the best clothes I have seen this year. They will fit almost any woman, and not just the stick figure we see in runways. Yes, they will look good on you and me! But let’s not butcher them with ugly shoes or tacky accessories, okay? This is <em>Versace</em>, for crying out loud.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Versace Fall 2012 RTW (1)" border="0" alt="Versace Fall 2012 RTW (1)" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Sie-UeeIxWQ/T0kVzswWSGI/AAAAAAAAArE/1wB5hFkNqOY/Versace%252520Fall%2525202012%252520RTW%252520%2525281%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">Notice the neckline? Any fan of this color would be head over heels for this couture collection. I myself was excited to see a Chanel collection that was focused only on one color.</p> <p align="justify">Blue is often the theme and topic of many songs. Blue eyes, feeling blue, blue skies, bluer than blue – you name it. It’s no surprise that even fashion owes a lot to this color. And Chanel’s entire Spring 2012 collection owes its very existence to this color.</p> <p align="justify">Here are a few of the dresses from the <strong>Chanel S/S 2012</strong> <strong>couture collection</strong>. Have fun with all the blue! </p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (1)" border="0" alt="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (1)" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-mOaffJLXJsk/T0Zbe10kAPI/AAAAAAAAAn0/unjKOh4GBfY/Chanel%252520Spring%2525202012%252520Couture%252520%2525281%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (2)" border="0" alt="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (2)" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-wMH154zrArg/T0ZbgNUfnMI/AAAAAAAAAn8/AHnjc_41kKY/Chanel%252520Spring%2525202012%252520Couture%252520%2525282%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (3)" border="0" alt="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (3)" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-F0d0wosLxJ0/T0Zbhvx8JvI/AAAAAAAAAoE/7zmp2-qneeY/Chanel%252520Spring%2525202012%252520Couture%252520%2525283%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (4)" border="0" alt="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (4)" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-bdr7iK9HAVc/T0Zbj_nOH-I/AAAAAAAAAoM/AGVT0qC_2w4/Chanel%252520Spring%2525202012%252520Couture%252520%2525284%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (5)" border="0" alt="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (5)" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-zKMqo5DPyLI/T0ZblmVjRKI/AAAAAAAAAoU/e4PG3gO7q-M/Chanel%252520Spring%2525202012%252520Couture%252520%2525285%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (6)" border="0" alt="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (6)" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-GLZCLazVwN8/T0Zbof9qMxI/AAAAAAAAAoc/nAB7zlmjOTQ/Chanel%252520Spring%2525202012%252520Couture%252520%2525286%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (7)" border="0" alt="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (7)" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-iXldFbQQQTQ/T0ZbqPEm0HI/AAAAAAAAAok/ZEcicpvkusQ/Chanel%252520Spring%2525202012%252520Couture%252520%2525287%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">And take note of the boat collar Chanel used generously on many of the dresses. They would be great if you had beautiful shoulders. But for small-shouldered people such as myself, it would be a big mistake to abuse this neckline!</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (8)" border="0" alt="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (8)" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-zo7kEPbQ5-U/T0ZbrSiGsdI/AAAAAAAAAos/HEIu0HYoBzY/Chanel%252520Spring%2525202012%252520Couture%252520%2525288%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">I am especially fond of the above ensemble because of the white boat collar, majestic puff sleeves, and midriff cut. That’s three trends in one – and the blouse still looks very elegant! Trust Chanel to be the one designer to pull off three trends without looking overdone.</p> <p align="justify">I’m featuring a few more dresses from the collection because I find them too pretty to ignore. What’s really wonderful about <strong>Chanel</strong> is that they can pretty much be timeless. You can wear a Chanel suit for the rest of your life and you would look classy until your last breath.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (9)" border="0" alt="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (9)" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-1n9BP0SyQT4/T0ZbsrEEYzI/AAAAAAAAAo0/6rMdfJ8aqr8/Chanel%252520Spring%2525202012%252520Couture%252520%2525289%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (10)" border="0" alt="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (10)" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-MK_dq2MpWEM/T0Zbto-2UDI/AAAAAAAAAo8/op6DKimIb2E/Chanel%252520Spring%2525202012%252520Couture%252520%25252810%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (11)" border="0" alt="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (11)" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-KkWImLDI_OU/T0Zbu91uS6I/AAAAAAAAApE/Egj4CbYXsiA/Chanel%252520Spring%2525202012%252520Couture%252520%25252811%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">It seems that Chanel is introducing a new shoulder shape. Perhaps the broad shoulders and long necks we have grown so accustomed to have started to look old in Chanel’s eyes. Maybe slouchy shoulders, such as mimicked in the above picture, is the new “in” thing.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (12)" border="0" alt="Chanel Spring 2012 Couture (12)" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-0M5lRrQXLek/T0ZbwOb-tRI/AAAAAAAAApM/1EhgxxFeVco/Chanel%252520Spring%2525202012%252520Couture%252520%25252812%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="270" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">Chanel has always been a minimalist. Coco Chanel once advised that before you stepped out, you should take off the last accessory you wore. Less is more. And in her couture spring collection this year, you will see how even just one color can be used in so many beautiful ways.</p> <p align="justify">Sometimes, there is so much beauty in smooth silhouettes that paid their respects to the body’s own curves. The simplistic nature of <strong>Chanel</strong> is in no way boring because of the intricate detailing used. Let the Spring 2012 collection of Chanel whet your appetite for wearable couture.</p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5639148004793096706.post-532777123561304562012-02-29T11:44:00.001-08:002012-02-29T11:44:48.454-08:00Angelina Jolie’s Leg<p align="justify">Angelina Jolie started her own meme last Oscars Awards Night 2012 – rather, <strong>Angelina Jolie’s leg</strong> started it all. On the red carpet, she flashed her leg was too much – and perhaps way too awkwardly? – until everyone started to notice.</p> <p align="justify">Angelina Jolie’s leg even overshadowed the wonderful black dress from Versace which she donned that night. Aw, what a pity. But the leg issue is much more fun to cover right now. So let’s give the leg some leg room, shall we?</p> <p align="justify">Here is the pose that made all the ruckus during the 2012 Oscars. Look at Angelina Jolie’s leg, sticking out like it wants to upstage Angelina herself.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Angelina's right leg" border="0" alt="Angelina's right leg" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-srvHqswSII0/T05__P24pSI/AAAAAAAAAyE/Yr58Q2YbMZg/Angelina%252527s%252520right%252520leg%25255B7%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="404" height="556" /></p> <p align="justify">The black velvet dress from Versace which she was wearing that night simply bowed down to the media hype that <strong>Angelina’s leg</strong> caused! In fact, even fellow celebrities noticed how “the leg” wanted its own space in the red carpet. For instance, she received a little mockery from Jim Rash, who tried to copy her pose after Angelina presented the awards for Adapted Screenplay (which the wonderful film The Descendants won, by the way). Just look at Angelina, then Jim Rash. Again, Angelina, then Jim Rash. LOL!</p> <p align="center"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Angelina Jolie" border="0" alt="Angelina Jolie" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-bEbeiQZi4Rs/T06ACME5XLI/AAAAAAAAAyM/sl-SgyrnBb0/AES-064175%25255B9%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="196" height="403" /><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Jim Rash" border="0" alt="Jim Rash" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-TUmDDPXNKZc/T06ADD2EDCI/AAAAAAAAAyU/jEKC-ql46CA/Jim%252520Rash%25255B6%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="194" height="400" /></p> <p align="justify">Angelina Jolie’s leg has gotten so much attention that it now has its very own… drum roll please… Twitter account! Tada! Here it is, a screenshot of Angie’s Right Leg on Twitter:</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Angiesrightleg Twitter" border="0" alt="Angiesrightleg Twitter" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-Fx8sbZasTXA/T06AEunS4VI/AAAAAAAAAyc/hRYgfylYbbc/Angiesrightleg%252520Twitter%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="562" height="383" /></p> <p align="justify">And the rest of the online world started to take notice as well as <strong>Angelina Jolie’s right leg</strong> started to go wildly viral. The netizens provided their own versions of Angelina Jolie’s right leg on many of our own pop icons.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Darth Maul" border="0" alt="Darth Maul" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-h3TqPMX6wr0/T06AF3rDrlI/AAAAAAAAAyk/pLq7wLACo20/Darth%252520Maul%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="243" height="474" /><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Sistine Chapel Michelangelo" border="0" alt="Sistine Chapel Michelangelo" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-1YnWQTeXgFc/T06AHT5v9WI/AAAAAAAAAys/Fg_ASgzZ7T4/Sistine%252520Chapel%252520Michelangelo%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="421" height="253" /><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Statue of Liberty" border="0" alt="Statue of Liberty" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Sp2uvCKhD0k/T06AIibpruI/AAAAAAAAAy0/K8C4eA9FbWc/Statue%252520of%252520Liberty%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="242" height="472" /></p> <p align="justify">But okay, enough about Angelina’s right leg. It has gotten quite a lot of attention and won’t get jealous of the attention we are about to give Angelina’s outfit. It’s a funny coincidence that right now, even NCIS is showing an episode where an amputated leg has been the object of an investigation… Or did NCIS mean to show this to join the hype?</p> <p align="justify">Angelina wore a wonderful black gown from Atelier Versace. It had a full train that made the dress quite amazing on the red carpet. Oh, of course, there was that slit that ran up Angelina’s thigh that made this dress all the more memorable. She wore this dress with pumps from Salvatore Ferragamo. A wonderful ensemble, truly.</p> <p align="justify">People say that perhaps Angelina was trying to upstage Jennifer Aniston. Maybe Angelina was not content with just having Brad Pitt after Jennifer Aniston; maybe she also wanted her leg to have it all. Look at Angelina’s right leg, then Jennifer Aniston’s… Angelina’s leg, then Jennifer’s. Hahaha.</p> <p align="center"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Angelina Jolie" border="0" alt="Angelina Jolie" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-w4e6820g1gY/T06AKDityJI/AAAAAAAAAy8/AjRjwuy6XZs/AES-0641741%25255B8%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="212" height="396" /><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Jennifer Aniston" border="0" alt="Jennifer Aniston" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-hAAi2_h03ds/T06ALXaXfQI/AAAAAAAAAzE/3_y_B-zPHUw/Jennifer%252520Aniston%25255B6%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="192" height="397" /></p> <p align="justify">That was Jennifer Aniston last 2010 during the Golden Globes. She flashed some skin and her legs got a lot of attention. Now, Angelina Jolie’s right leg wants a piece of that cake. Or maybe they both like Brad Pitt… and they both like thigh-high slits? What do you think?</p> <p align="justify">Oh, and please don’t follow <strong>Angelina Jolie’s leg on Twitter</strong>. Or maybe you should, just to poke fun on how celebrities sometimes make mistakes on the red carpet. They are just human, after all.</p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5639148004793096706.post-33815083466226623322012-02-29T02:23:00.000-08:002012-02-29T02:23:00.300-08:00Midriff Fashion Trend 2012<p align="justify">Life has been frustrating lately. The trend for tummy-baring <strong>midriffs</strong> has finally come back to town and, as chance would have it, I am no longer that flat-tummied girl who can pull off anything. Sigh. But despite my bitterness, I shall rant and rave about midriffs because they are different from the original trend of decades past.</p> <p align="justify"><strong>Midriffs</strong> nowadays no longer show the belly button. They tend to favor the woman’s curves by highlighting the upper area of the abdomen, which is actually the last part of the abdomen that stores fat. In other words, even the curvier girls just might be able to pull this off.</p> <p align="justify">Many designers have jumped in the fashion bandwagon by parading midriff clothes in the runway this 2012. Spring 2012 is then the official month of the <strong>midriff trend</strong>. Let’s all look at the extra skin found just below a man’s favorite ogling spot.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Prada 2012" border="0" alt="Prada 2012" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-L7s5FheoSN4/T0YTtYVSkZI/AAAAAAAAAlk/M02PEW4Mynw/Prada%2525202012%25255B8%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="421" height="403" /></p> <p align="justify">When I saw this picture from Prada, I immediately remembered how I used to have a pink bathing suit top that looks just like the top the model is wearing above. Ah, brings back memories.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Acne 2012" border="0" alt="Acne 2012" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-5NoqwMMuMQM/T0YTul2guMI/AAAAAAAAAls/l3aDCXblM_U/Acne%2525202012%25255B5%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="421" height="401" /></p> <p align="justify">An ensemble from Acne, which is one of my favorite names. But this attire is not exactly one of my favorites. It looks lousy, but I like the idea of pairing a cute black skirt with a midriff grey knit top.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Anthony Vaccarello" border="0" alt="Anthony Vaccarello" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-erL3r9wdI20/T0YTvyvjopI/AAAAAAAAAl0/Ovys4yw_O6U/Anthony%252520Vaccarello%25255B5%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="421" height="401" /></p> <p align="justify">Anthony Vaccarello’s number sizzled in the pic above! Maybe it’s the slicked back hair or the skimpy black outfit. Okay, it’s’ the skimpy black outfit.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Aquilano.Rimondi 2012" border="0" alt="Aquilano.Rimondi 2012" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZatcA0T44oval3OhyphenhyphenFdYugpUtnoqTVsAHVt6A2x1YPbfYdjUrA8jKGmbfh6Sx9cYy0sWqbm7F4EI7tFruOOO-02aJNqkWV5bNjoK6mQ9e3fPzsZvA7tFBJykel3OV5nltwzUd4GwVSXI/?imgmax=800" width="421" height="401" /></p> <p align="justify">A classy number from Aquilano.Rimondi from his Spring 2012 collection. A nice concept, but I wouldn’t wear it.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Bill Blass 2012" border="0" alt="Bill Blass 2012" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4dxmbEgODBRoyzjGVcZoErKp2Y6Llz55wZwDb3M3VCmUhcdtapw49AJKtjEICTAmvXb4ykzSsdr4ii-wxY-JN2TZCJnbgPczUKcPlsdzFWRDsZjX3MikAIlxpg3ES_giT19y8XtFTQi8/?imgmax=800" width="421" height="401" /></p> <p align="justify">The above attire by Bill Blass makes me want to go on a yacht. I love the look! The blazer would hide my flab. The footwear is also my kind of thing.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Dolce & Gabbana 2012" border="0" alt="Dolce & Gabbana 2012" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-ryxvDeraePI/T0YT2DgpxtI/AAAAAAAAAmU/6AEB2oecWzU/Dolce%252520%252526%252520Gabbana%2525202012%25255B5%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="421" height="401" /></p> <p align="justify">And then there’s Dolce & Gabbana. This looks like something that Carrie would wear in SATC. It’s midriff plus fruits. I’m craving for juice but I want to lose weight – wow, fashion has so many levels.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Emilio Pucci 2012" border="0" alt="Emilio Pucci 2012" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-gpYIS23s_7Q/T0YT34V63jI/AAAAAAAAAmc/JPRD4ETGSvU/Emilio%252520Pucci%2525202012%25255B5%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="421" height="401" /></p> <p align="justify">One of my favorite midriff attires is this one by Emilio Pucci. I fell in love with every element: the black cross pendant, the white on white pattern, the full skirt, the midriff sleeved top. Gorgeous.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Helmut Lang 2012" border="0" alt="Helmut Lang 2012" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-E1lBMr688wk/T0YT5CSMnCI/AAAAAAAAAmk/SiOr2SAaFIc/Helmut%252520Lang%2525202012%25255B5%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="421" height="401" /></p> <p align="justify">If you need something a little more modern, Helmut Lang just might have something for you. It’s midriff with a twist, what with the asymmetrical patterns.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Nina Ricci 2012" border="0" alt="Nina Ricci 2012" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-J9lqPWIBcw0/T0YT6rhDKiI/AAAAAAAAAms/zLixpeTbGE0/Nina%252520Ricci%2525202012%25255B5%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="421" height="401" /></p> <p align="justify">A cute ensemble by Nina Ricci! I’m quite attracted to the headgear; it looks nice on the runway but I don’t think I can wear that on any occasion whatsoever. But I love the tube top because it has volume.</p> <p align="justify">Well, there you go, a few pictures to inspire you on the <strong>midriff trend</strong> this season. It’s almost summer, so we better be doing a few more sit-ups if we want to be able to pull off this look!</p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5639148004793096706.post-58331315042663504282012-02-28T01:41:00.000-08:002012-02-28T01:41:00.173-08:00K-Pop Fashion in the Philippines<p align="justify">Koreans are everywhere. They’re on TV, they’re in my FM radio station, they’re in my food, and they’re in everything I want to wear! Yes, the <strong>K-pop</strong> culture has exploded and its fallout has involved even the world of fashion.</p> <p align="justify">So, yes, the <strong>K-pop fashion</strong> is something I should really feature on my blog. Even Korean hairstyles, which we once thought of as tacky and almost childish, are fast becoming the rage. So, kudos to the Koreans for making it work, and for making us salivate over Korean pop culture.</p> <p align="justify">Enough words. On with the K-pop pictures!</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="2ne1 k-pop" border="0" alt="2ne1 k-pop" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-fQz52LcbXTE/T0YJ26uvfZI/AAAAAAAAAks/RX3F-5sQtHk/2ne1%252520k-pop%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="552" height="376" /></p> <p align="justify">This is perhaps the most popular girl <strong>K-pop band</strong> in the Philippines: 2ne1! I still try to play with how the name of their band is pronounced. Is it like the number 21? Or is it “to anyone”? Hmm. Okay, while I figure that out, notice the burst of colors in all their outfits. I personally believe it’s a little too much, and that these attires are trends that will very soon fade, but they’re nice to look at while they last.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="2ne1" border="0" alt="2ne1" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-fYYVUv_ht5w/T0YJ7vYAIiI/AAAAAAAAAk0/o8mdRnq8L0A/2ne1%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="467" height="487" /></p> <p align="justify">Another group shot of 2ne1. <strong>K-pop fashion</strong> is really out there. But their outfits here are a lot more wearable.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="4minute" border="0" alt="4minute" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-co_CQsGd4Pg/T0YKC_ZvnPI/AAAAAAAAAk8/KqQtLCd2jS8/4minute%25255B4%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="551" height="360" /></p> <p align="justify">The shot above is of 4minute. Notice how almost all of them have fringe? Fringe (bangs) is so K-pop!</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="f(x)" border="0" alt="f(x)" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-d9YJ1bpOe5I/T0YKHrgnCtI/AAAAAAAAAlE/GpNqdlxeQKI/f%252528x%252529%25255B5%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="538" height="440" /></p> <p align="justify">Another K-pop sensation, f(x), showing their bangs and topsy-turvy style. I am way too scared to invest in <strong>K-pop clothing</strong> because I know they will look dated a year from now. But I do feel a teeny tiny bit of envy because they all look like they jumped out of a fashion magazine.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="korean fashion" border="0" alt="korean fashion" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-Hc4UF7V9rt4/T0YKJPIRJLI/AAAAAAAAAlM/XvoEIEkbbaE/korean%252520fashion%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="467" height="479" /></p> <p align="justify">This is supposed to be the regular outfit of a Korean. Modest enough, but still very edgy.</p> <p align="justify">Of course, K-pop fashion is not just for us girls. The men have been sporting Korean hairstyles, with their hair brushed to the front, the cuts a little longer, and the styles a little more feminine than the world is used to.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="SHINee" border="0" alt="SHINee" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-xJieinTM8Wk/T0YKKREAB5I/AAAAAAAAAlU/M8B-b_GNFAY/SHINee%25255B5%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="365" height="390" /></p> <p align="justify">The picture above is of SHINee, a popular Korean all-boy band. I will kill my boyfriend if he so much as tries to look like a K-pop boy! I hope I don’t offend anyone who does look a little too kpop…</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Wonder Girls" border="0" alt="Wonder Girls" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-gW2jXzBHNJw/T0YKMgCLX-I/AAAAAAAAAlc/zd6WIj92J6w/Wonder%252520Girls%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="536" height="361" /></p> <p align="justify">Last but not the least, here is a group shot of Wonder Girls. Koreans and other almond-eyed Asians (Chinese, Taiwanese, Singaporeans, Japanese) are scouting the fringed hair, plus they love the schoolgirl outfit very much. Funny how their schoolgirl fashion usually has neckties. In the Philippines, how many schools have neckties in their uniforms? Anyhow, it’s a K-pop frenzy out there. No choice but to enjoy it while it lasts.</p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5639148004793096706.post-15424521970600497462012-02-26T00:27:00.000-08:002012-02-26T00:27:00.035-08:00Midcalf Skirts Trend<p align="justify">Have you ever worn <strong>mid-calf</strong> skirts? They are so unflattering, unless you have really skinny legs. But they are such a hot trend this year and last year that I just have to make them a special mention. <strong>Midcalf skirts</strong> do not do much to flatter you because they end right where your legs seem fat and stubby. Remember the fashion tenet where your skirt’s hem should fall on that area of your leg that looks skinny? Well, a mid-calf skirt would break that rule.</p> <p align="justify">Despite my rant on the <strong>mid-calf skirt</strong>, I want to applaud all of you ladies who did try this trend last year. Girl, you are fierce if you pulled this off! And if you haven’t yet but want to, then try this trick: wear super ultra high heels with your mid calf skirt so that your calves would look thinner and your legs would look longer.</p> <p align="justify">Noteworthy are the mid calf skirts by the following designers. Boy, do I love looking at catwalk pictures. They inspire me to do better and dress better! And they make me lust after <strong>midcalf skirts and dresses</strong>, sigh.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Charles Anastase 2011" border="0" alt="Charles Anastase 2011" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-EEJNBdSyyhA/T0X7_3-9ADI/AAAAAAAAAjM/yRUAAnDzyOM/Charles%252520Anastase%2525202011%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">Charles Anastase obviously likes the nerd office girl look. And, I have to admit, it looks really nice with the above attire. The top and skirt per se look boring, but the clutch and shoes – not to mention the thick-rimmed glasses – added a boost. Good, because that boost was much needed.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Clements Ribeiro 2011" border="0" alt="Clements Ribeiro 2011" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-xbVmZOxguY0/T0X8Bd25y-I/AAAAAAAAAjU/PRNGIz66ryI/Clements%252520Ribeiro%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">And the mid-calf dress by Clements Ribeiro is so… yellow! Bright! Sunny! Very summery, indeed, but this actually came from his Spring 2011 collection. I would tone it down with a boring tote and shoes. And I would wear my hair down.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Donna Karan 2011" border="0" alt="Donna Karan 2011" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-h6wARaPh51E/T0X8Czg79NI/AAAAAAAAAjc/q0WMkodx_oQ/Donna%252520Karan%2525202011%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">Oh, yes, Donna Karan, I love how you always manage to pull off white clothes. I like the blazer and the dress. I have not worn an all-white dress in a long time and this would be something I might wear if I’m in the mood.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Emporio Armani" border="0" alt="Emporio Armani" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-zFqYcb93zwQ/T0X8ElNLEqI/AAAAAAAAAjk/yth1hWIAJ1Y/Emporio%252520Armani%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">I wanted to show the photo above because it made me think of UFOs, aliens, and everything in the 25th century. Talk about the future! This is from Emporio Armani Spring 2011.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Giorgio Armani" border="0" alt="Giorgio Armani" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-2wjw7CmXyr8/T0X8FiY0qyI/AAAAAAAAAjs/FufZZLKHFqU/Giorgio%252520Armani%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">Giorgio Armani goes classic with a tube mid-calf dress but spices it up with a glittery vest. I love the shoes, too.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Jeremy Laing" border="0" alt="Jeremy Laing" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1Jx6eFhr2OnDhsoqhFvM4uYMPMi3MgB0erSAu0gQYKawjwJLA5uxuifOaOJkR9dw7T7XgFPc2sRJGPV4Kv3FWN7Ehv9vyY_wLnnb_Dedcz8C1bKcjODRdD60GYIAq107X3dRWXRHbdos/?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">Now, the picture above shows you just how hard it is to pull off the midcalf trend. Doesn’t the model look awkward? She is skinny and sexy, but the mid-calf cut of the dress ends right on that part of her leg that looks fullest. Not too flattering.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Marc by Marc Jacobs" border="0" alt="Marc by Marc Jacobs" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-wfPFimAXaqg/T0X8IJX8zdI/AAAAAAAAAj8/KzCchmoeIuE/Marc%252520by%252520Marc%252520Jacobs%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">Oh, talk about the eighties! Marc by Marc Jacobs released this look last year (Spring 2011). The frizzy hair, yellow shoes, and grey jersey clothes are almost a remake of decades past.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Prabal Gurung 2011" border="0" alt="Prabal Gurung 2011" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-eQydImnGOxw/T0X8JLwavrI/AAAAAAAAAkE/Tjo3qhNV8A4/Prabal%252520Gurung%2525202011%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">If you’re a fan of color blocks, go for Prabal Gurung and try their mid-calf dress. I won’t wear this dress, however, because it is so not my color</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Proenza Schouler 2011" border="0" alt="Proenza Schouler 2011" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-W5uHr6ORmKo/T0X8KkQmGgI/AAAAAAAAAkM/9bFSzcmHP8k/Proenza%252520Schouler%2525202011%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">Now, this midcalf dress by Proenze Schouler is more my thing! I would wear this with all sorts of footwear and pair it with all my accessories and bags. I love the green, the thick straps, and the horizontal tube cut. Very, very me.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Rachel Comey 2011" border="0" alt="Rachel Comey 2011" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-sepmnleOxWc/T0X8L3BJ-3I/AAAAAAAAAkU/HKvfiU1Hs98/Rachel%252520Comey%2525202011%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">Rachel Comey Spring 2011. White top, black midcalf skirt. Nice, basic, something you can wear on a regular day. Something you would buy, definitely.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Rodarte Spring 2011" border="0" alt="Rodarte Spring 2011" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-CDnhYkbAR0Q/T0X8Mx_nMcI/AAAAAAAAAkc/fDvXna4K1Dk/Rodarte%252520Spring%2525202011%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">I just have to mention Rodarte because the designs from all their collections just blind me! I’m not saying they’re ugly. They’re actually cute and whimsical. I like the footwear here. See? I appreciate Rodarte.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Talbot Runhof 2011" border="0" alt="Talbot Runhof 2011" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDrM7BKAfKw1AMNEzJgSYd-dhUMIoyr6sIyJkodo_8Bd_0mOnjl3IBKTw_MW7lVP6phsBRB4EGdw9m7iGVD7p57rYWzrZwFCHGLxft_QJ6lca9ez11cT8L8cDgYATN77qY8WftOvHWS48/?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">And perhaps my favorite midcalf ensemble: it’s from Talbot Runhof. Clap, clap, clap! The top and the skirt are just classic but very now. I also like how they used texture to update the ordinary black and white colors.</p> <p align="justify">I have to confess, I still haven’t purchased a single <strong>mid-calf skirt</strong>. I tried them on but they make me look short! I would buy them if I like wearing heels all day, which I don’t. Oh well, there goes another trend.</p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5639148004793096706.post-52180282789607527352012-02-25T00:16:00.000-08:002012-02-25T00:16:00.218-08:00Plains & Prints Philippines 2012<p align="justify">If you live in the Philippines, I bet you have at least one item of clothing from <strong>Plains & Prints</strong>. They’re rather popular, given their unique styles and office-ready designs. And last season, I loved their dresses that I’m posting my top picks from their collection!</p> <p align="justify"><strong>Plains & Prints</strong> never cooperates with my figure, though. My neckline and my waist are so against what the store offers, sob! But I love their clothes nonetheless. I have to admit, though, that I often have to restyle or alter the clothes after I buy them.</p> <p align="justify">Anyhow, here they are, the best of last year’s collection from <strong>Plains & Prints Philippines</strong>. Although 2011 is so last year – pardon the pun, I want to reminisce and capture the best of that year to usher in more great clothes from this brand!</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Plains & Prints (1)" border="0" alt="Plains & Prints (1)" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-buHP9km3X34/T0X128ynd6I/AAAAAAAAAic/xjqo8us2ozM/Plains%252520%252526%252520Prints%252520%2525281%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">What I like about the dress above: its roominess. It will hide all my flab! Bravo, bravo. And I like how the fabric seems to cling to certain areas of the body. It’s soft but sexy.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Plains & Prints (2)" border="0" alt="Plains & Prints (2)" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-CpOF5AutFwA/T0X13wrtvzI/AAAAAAAAAik/DFnxZ2Vmyik/Plains%252520%252526%252520Prints%252520%2525282%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">I have yet to get over little girl dresses, such as the one above. And even if the shoes are not from Plains & Prints, I want to point out how they so go with this dress! I love the belt, too; it gives the dress a little more flavor without stealing the show.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Plains & Prints (3)" border="0" alt="Plains & Prints (3)" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZzVbabu_NqTsEdBKxULpAZH7PGq1KcFbHA-xjun44xumLx9rbaTpml-6bF8AezDtiw3EcCxxYLMu0q4yjwxKlC3l6YGqoeILSeEeTw1UtgdhImkQPmkSagJPyqUF3VuTn9tudMRtx3AA/?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">What I like about the above attire: nude colors at their best. Nude colors, however, can be tricky; not all of them will flatter your skin color. I also like the cut of the neckline and the sleeves, despite their having been “borrowed” from a famous designer.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Plains & Prints (4)" border="0" alt="Plains & Prints (4)" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-cwRf4UFtyPQ/T0X16vu_WQI/AAAAAAAAAi0/oPVgc4o-N10/Plains%252520%252526%252520Prints%252520%2525284%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">And this dress would be so cute for Sunday! I can almost imagine myself wearing them with pearls and white strap-on platform heels. Or I would wear really funky sneakers just to start a fashion rebellion.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Plains & Prints (5)" border="0" alt="Plains & Prints (5)" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-bcIU3iiv3Lo/T0X17rRiSTI/AAAAAAAAAi8/yzi-B4JCl2U/Plains%252520%252526%252520Prints%252520%2525285%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">Okay, maybe the above dress is a little too blah. But hey, you don’t exactly go to Plains & Prints because of their avant-garde style, do you? Besides, you will need that “plain” dress so that you can accessorize to death.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Plains & Prints (6)" border="0" alt="Plains & Prints (6)" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-dOAtLNtHCfI/T0X19M-J_sI/AAAAAAAAAjE/ryQzRFxF4q8/Plains%252520%252526%252520Prints%252520%2525286%252529%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">Nice color blocks on this dress, but what I love the most is the red bowler hat! Never thought it would look feminine, ever. But on this dress and on a Twixie-inspired hairstyle, it looks just perfect.</p> <p align="justify">So, visit your nearest <strong>Plains & Prints</strong> store to check out their latest designs! 2012 is a good year to start investing in basics. Plains and prints, indeed!</p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5639148004793096706.post-89153130142078167192012-02-23T00:01:00.001-08:002012-02-23T00:01:13.272-08:00Lace Fashion Spring 2012<p align="justify">Lace, oh lace. Despite the supposedly conventional nature of lace, there’s nothing boring about it. It’s supposed to be conservative, but wear a see-through lace top with no camisoles or tank tops underneath and the conservative vibe is out of the picture. It’s supposed to be dated, but it seems to never go out of style. Apparently, lace is here to stay in the fashion world.</p> <p align="justify">Lace fashion is something you should wear with caution, however. If you go overboard, you might end up looking like your great grandmother (no offense to all the beautiful grannies out there, including my own). Wear it one trend at a time. That is, if you have on a lace top, don’t push it too far by wearing a lace skirt, too.</p> <p align="justify">And lace has gotten a refreshing revamp of late. For instance, this S/S 2012, designers have used lace in ways you would have never seen before. I’ve gone through several catwalk pictures and below are some of those that really got my attention.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Anna Sui lace spring 2012" border="0" alt="Anna Sui lace spring 2012" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-ckHxvzLfG5Y/T0Xx-wV_vDI/AAAAAAAAAg0/P37MV133CvM/Anna%252520Sui%252520lace%252520spring%2525202012%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">The beautiful ensemble in nude you see above is from Annu Sui S/S 2012 collection. A modern take on lace, and the muted natural colors tone down the “lace statement”.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Balenciaga lace spring 2012" border="0" alt="Balenciaga lace spring 2012" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-JHX4p1Zw7g8/T0XyAq5QfZI/AAAAAAAAAg8/M475lac_z-w/Balenciaga%252520lace%252520spring%2525202012%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">Balenciaga has always been edgy, so I love their take on lace in the picture above. Also taken from their Spring collection. I can imagine wearing this very attire as I work on my fashion blog!</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="BCBG Max Azria lace 2012" border="0" alt="BCBG Max Azria lace 2012" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-vNm8DrIyx6o/T0XyEJ08mZI/AAAAAAAAAhE/ulQTrPSe57s/BCBG%252520Max%252520Azria%252520lace%2525202012%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">And then there’s BCBG’s take on lace. Almost scandalously see-through, but the length makes it very modest. A nice dress to wear if you have the figure to boot.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Brioni spring 2012" border="0" alt="Brioni spring 2012" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-uti381wv7PU/T0XyFhuWfeI/AAAAAAAAAhM/7W12k87nans/Brioni%252520spring%2525202012%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">This attire from Brioni caught my eye not because I liked it, but I thought it might be a good inspiration for other outfits. I like the billowy skirt, but it’s overkill for someone like me.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Christopher Kane" border="0" alt="Christopher Kane lace" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOvUe7CCXje7Bnc7DB8epB-AAQh_LLTZKbLtibhsPNcOADbp34vZWCvTFZHhjc2vLSTBJpnvkFXAWhhG_neTpBLqTTzs1urVzn0Q7uo1PcXRov0l4t0BjzcWBB1FdvXF7HB_UeJ1zHQC0/?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">And what’s more girly than lace AND pink? So cute! I like the lace top very much, but I would tone it down with something more rugged, like cut-off denims and brogues. I would wear a large cocktail ring for good measure.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Collette Dinnigan 2012" border="0" alt="Collette Dinnigan 2012" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-OP-aN0bQAKM/T0XyIa1ZlYI/AAAAAAAAAhc/VvqEo4Tx0BY/Collette%252520Dinnigan%2525202012%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">If you’re headed to a party, the dress above by Collette Dinnigan from her 2012 Spring collection is perfect. Make sure you don’t accessorize too much – an entire dress in lace is enough of a statement. I would wear it with stronger heels than the one in the picture, though.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Emanuel Ungaro lace 2012" border="0" alt="Emanuel Ungaro lace 2012" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-sMQlhj3ipRI/T0XyJ9ZuOXI/AAAAAAAAAhk/pXofy6BfKUE/Emanuel%252520Ungaro%252520lace%2525202012%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">Emanuel Ungaro has been a name I’ve been seeing more and more lately, and it’s probably no surprise that he does so again. His lace dress is pretty, but imagine it without the skunk headdress. The lace dress is almost scandalous but classy, something you would wear to an artsy red carpet event. But, again, wear with caution.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Erdem 2012" border="0" alt="Erdem" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjQTgTcxb-QnL9qkFIAyYP9YEUlQMFReP9AQFe62570BnqqE1lCTTj18hTax0w70ZwYLlKIAAF2pcetJ24IbGQJe2I07BIXkP8wGe73g1VjyPSI7VMN-U2f_WCqQ8CFxUvWrnSzWTgeXI/?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">Perhaps I’m stuck in my girly-girl years, because the dress in the above photo is one of my favorites! I like how the lace just about covers the strong patterns of the dress underneath. Love, love, love! This attire comes from Erdem S/S 2012.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Francesco Scognamiglio lace" border="0" alt="Francesco Scognamiglio lace" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-uPuhLem9kY8/T0XyMDShFPI/AAAAAAAAAhw/6yijQNvHnN4/Francesco%252520Scognamiglio%252520lace%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">Francesco Scognaniglio made the daring dress above. I like the flowy details and the almost goth inspiration. Perfect for a fashion shoot!</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="L 'Wren Scott lace" border="0" alt="L 'Wren Scott lace" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-jR93wE-EdSo/T0XyNW3s-_I/AAAAAAAAAh4/BHBqIwacktU/L%252520%252527Wren%252520Scott%252520lace%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">Got a boyfriend? L ‘Wren Scott made this awesome robe-inspired top-slash-dress that you can wear to a posh party with your boyfriend in tow, or even in the bedroom for special occasions (wink, wink). The gold finish on black lace is something Nicole Ritchie would have worn.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Louis Vuitton 2012" border="0" alt="Louis Vuitton 2012" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-1BSAxmZ4Cow/T0XyO4ugrYI/AAAAAAAAAiE/rRBCobfn2co/Louis%252520Vuitton%252520lace%2525202012%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">And, of course, Louis Vuitton! Lace skirts, lace tops, lace fans. I most probably would never pull off these attires, but they’re so pretty on the catwalk!</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Ralph Lauren lace" border="0" alt="Ralph Lauren lace" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-IcnX02YSU4k/T0XyQx-vCmI/AAAAAAAAAiM/5yKSuz7vwCk/Ralph%252520Lauren%252520lace%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="justify">Ralph Lauren is my guy when it comes to things you can <em>actually</em> wear. The beautiful white lace dress hugs your figure but cascades into even more lace hems. Yummy dress. I would have worn it for a party I’d host at home.</p> <p align="justify">How about you, what are your favorite picks from this year’s Spring lace collection? Share and credit. And please spread the word about my blog, I would so appreciate it. <img style="border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; border-top-style: none; border-right-style: none" class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-redheart" alt="Red heart" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-JFkzedXLMsI/T0XyR53vdHI/AAAAAAAAAiQ/g4Kg7TqLqTg/wlEmoticon-redheart%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" /></p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5639148004793096706.post-74419915254313615362011-12-07T11:13:00.001-08:002011-12-07T11:50:11.495-08:00TABA Awards 2011 Nomination<p align="justify">Because I’m a princess (in my own world), I know the value of accomplishment. I know the value of being crowned as the best, may it be as a blogger or any other title. This is why I want to nominate someone for the TABA Awards 2011 – and I shall send the rest of our kingdom to make sure he wins!</p> <p align="justify">The TABA Awards (short for The Annual Kalsada Blog Awards) is a fun way of saluting fellow bloggers. Fun, because there is no strict and boring criteria. Fun, because the categories themselves are funny (imagine voting for the most handsome blogger!). Fun, because I’m sure that my candidate has a fighting chance.</p> <p align="justify">For the <strong>TABA Awards 2011</strong>, I would like to nominate <strong>Mr. Stanley Chi of </strong><a href="http://www.stanleychi.net" target="_blank"><strong>Stanley Chi</strong></a><strong> </strong>as the <strong>Pinaka-Gwapong Blogger of the Year</strong>! Here are several wonderful reasons why:</p> <ol> <li> <div align="justify"><strong>Suplado is the new Sexy. </strong>Go ahead, Google that catchphrase, and you’ll see how it’s actually now a fact of life! Stanley Chi, dubbed as Mr. Suplado after his book <em>Suplado Tips</em> sold more than 3000 copies in under three months, is like the hottest patatas in the interweb! Even the business giant UniSilver Time believes in that mantra, which is why they made a watch with “Suplado is the new Sexy” etched onto the strap! True, that!</div> </li> <li> <div align="justify"><strong>He’s so hot that Spot.ph said he is one of the </strong><a href="http://www.spot.ph/gallery/1348/top-10-sexy-ugly-men/article/48658#pid=20907" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><strong>Top Ten Sexy-Ugly Hotties</strong></a><strong>! </strong>To quote, “Stanley's hot factor recently jumped from being simply nerdy college-boy crush to sexy hard-to-get hottie when he started dishing out <a href="http://www.spot.ph/gallery/1260/10-things-we-rsquo-re-loving-now-6/article/48451#pid=19424" rel="nofollow">Suplado Tips</a><em></em> that apparently drive Pinays wild.” But I disagree about the “ugly” part – Stan is “da man” when it comes to being drop-dead, makalaglag-panty gorgeous!</div> </li> <li> <div align="justify"><strong>Even the gorgeous Iya Villania wants a little more lovin’ from Stanley Chi!</strong> Iya can’t have enough of Stanley because he’s suplado – and that makes him irresistible. More and more people in their twenties are experiencing wrinkles, crows’ feet, and dull skin. Because of an unhealthy diet, inadequate hydration, exposure to free radicals and pollutants, and sun exposure, many young women’s faces now show signs of premature aging. Learn how to cheat your way to younger skin through the makeup tips below.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="putting on makeup" border="0" alt="putting on makeup" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-1xKbwiyzQ3Y/TsZSSoZ_JsI/AAAAAAAAAf8/6nLtV0wXLyQ/putting%252520on%252520makeup%25255B10%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="377" /></p> <ul> <li> <div align="justify"><strong>Before applying makeup, wash, moisturize, and put on sunscreen.</strong> And that should be everyday, come hell or high water. Your everyday routine can very well affect how old – or young – your face and skin will look. For instance, washing vigorously will lead to wrinkles and sagging skin. Make sure you wash your face – gently – and dab your face dry instead of wiping it like you do your behind. Settle for a noncomedogenic wash that does not strip your skin of its natural oils. Then, find a water-based moisturizer… and if it has SPF, then that’s two birds with one stone! A well-moisturized skin has extra protection against wrinkles, especially when moisturizing is done regularly.</div> </li> <li> <div align="justify"><strong>Try wrinkle fillers before putting on foundation. </strong>Wrinkle fillers can reduce the appearance of visible wrinkles and lines, making foundation application much easier and more effective.</div> </li> <li> <div align="justify"><strong>Use a light foundation that has light to medium coverage. </strong>Using a thick foundation will only make your face look cakey, which becomes even more obvious because of the fine lines you might already have. Instead, go for light foundation in a liquid formula: it covers flaws while allowing your skin’s natural color to show through.</div> </li> <li> <div align="justify"><strong>Use a trusted concealer that does not cause your skin to dry up. </strong>You may also use the same foundation under your eyes; however, if you have extra dark under-eye circles, a concealer may be necessary. Of course, don’t overdo it, or you’ll end up looking a little overdone.</div> </li> <li> <div align="justify"><strong>Use lip gloss to plump thin lips.</strong> The sheen of lip gloss reflects more light, giving the impression of thicker lips.</div> </li> <li> <div align="justify"><strong>Use a lip liner to redefine your lips.</strong> This is especially useful if you have a marionette face: if the corners of the lips droop a little. Follow the outline of your lips, except when you reach the droopy corners, where your line should fade off.</div> </li> <li> <div align="justify"><strong>Use pink lipstick and blush.</strong> A pink blush and lipstick both give the impression of young, healthy skin, as pink cheeks are often associated with youth.</div> </li> </ul> <p align="justify">If you want to know <strong>how to put on makeup to look young</strong>, the above tricks should do it. Lastly, eat a healthy diet rich in antioxidants, always drink enough water, and learn to manage your stress! Don’t just fake youth; fight aging!</p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5639148004793096706.post-82717421979287006172011-11-20T03:58:00.000-08:002011-11-20T03:58:00.704-08:00Natori now in the Philippines<p align="justify"><strong>Natori is now available in the Philippines!</strong> This November, Josie Natori, the designer responsible for the wildly successful Natori line, and Nedy Tantoco, the president of Rustan Commercial Corporation, bring us Natori in the Philippines.</p> <p align="justify"><strong>Natori at Rustan’s</strong> is actually the only boutique thus far that has set up camp outside the United States. Josie Natori is quite happy to make the Philippines the very first non-U.S. flagship of the Natori brand.</p> <p align="justify">The Natori collection is actually a myriad of fashion ideas from both Asian and Western influences. Natori provides both RTW and luxurios lines, while also providing bedsheets and perfumes.</p> <p align="justify">Almost forty years back, Josie Natori sold lingerie in the U.S. Together with her husband, they started a fashion house, now known as the lifestyle go-to brand, Natori.</p> <p align="justify">In the United States, Natori is available at Sak’s and also at Neiman Marcus. Many Natori fans love the brand for its wonderful lounge wear, made of wonderful fabrics like silk. The design allows for a lot of room, hiding all unwanted bulges. This way, Natori lounge wear actually provides both style and comfort.</p> <p align="justify">Another plus factor is that Natori provides the Philippines with the same collection as abroad, at just 90 percent of the actual overseas prices! Natori’s A/W 2011 line draws inspiration from Japanese Samurai fashion.</p> <p align="justify">Although Rustan’s only offers Natori lounge wear and lingerie for now, their RTW will soon be available, too.</p> <p align="justify">Take a look at several of Natori’s ensembles below.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="natori" border="0" alt="natori" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-J0ArtyxFisM/TsZIjMeGJXI/AAAAAAAAAe8/1P7XejDFsNs/natori1%25255B5%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="472" /></p> <p align="justify"><a></a></p> <p align="center">Caftan (made of charmeuse and silk), with bead detailing, worth PhP100,000</p> <p align="justify"> </p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="natori" border="0" alt="natori" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-ZB35NNcISSQ/TsZIkOmgjkI/AAAAAAAAAfE/dmzbDLf1Ss8/natori2%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="center">Robe (made of silk and habotai or chinese silk)</p> <p align="justify"> </p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="natori3" border="0" alt="natori3" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-XZtk-DasYpo/TsZIlvXwOWI/AAAAAAAAAfM/mFj2ridyr0M/natori3%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="center">Caftan (made from silk and habotai, also known as chinese silk) worth PhP69,500</p> <p align="justify"> </p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="natori4" border="0" alt="natori4" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-A1wre-Lic40/TsZImspWyzI/AAAAAAAAAfU/3iz8eJn9wl4/natori4%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="center">Pyjamas made of micro satin, bold prints, worth PhP7450</p> <p align="justify"> </p> <p align="justify"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="natori5" border="0" alt="natori5" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-mLEOzXRaPos/TsZInui65QI/AAAAAAAAAfc/So1iX0r6Tag/natori5%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="center">Caftan, made of charmeuse, worth PhP9,500 <br />Tunic Pyjamas, also made of charmeuse, worth PhP8,950</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="natori6" border="0" alt="natori6" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-hKwOkYdItMc/TsZIo0Q7LmI/AAAAAAAAAfk/M28pzMhtrvM/natori6%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="center">Caftan, made of charmeuse, worth PhP9,500</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="natori7" border="0" alt="natori7" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Qz7BvqxA1ME/TsZIp8vLpPI/AAAAAAAAAfs/-iPOpuxMXLE/natori7%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="center">Chemise, worth PhP12,500</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="natori8" border="0" alt="natori8" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh1JRjKFPzNTn5qGFDOhYD9oeaUB4nPrHpTdOPkY3_yrKGrIK_hSXJVT2-GIDd4cgP5wcJsGMd1DhtfkNQQ1Y3mFaQFHg6gDwvSTGss6mn7fVZNIbO-3314fzZGlE3mjbYog0364S7ZJI/?imgmax=800" width="311" height="464" /></p> <p align="center">Maxi dress with belt (made of natural cord and mother of pearl)</p> <p align="justify"><strong>Natori is now in the Philippines</strong>, so what are you waiting for? More and more people want to don costumes and becomes cosplayers, acting out roles, learning dynamic poses, and making their own costumes from scratch. Although cosplay has a lot of positive aspects, there are <strong>negative aspects to cosplay</strong> – and I’m here to talk about that white elephant in the room, so to speak.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="margin: 0px auto; display: block; float: none" title="cosplay" alt="cosplay" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-UvHZ2w3XDE4/TsVIARdPd3I/AAAAAAAAAe0/KrnOjMLJoVc/cosplay%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="362" height="261" /></p> <p align="justify">As a fashion lover, I love the costumes worn by cosplayers! Sadly, many issues are now being brought up which point to the negative aspects of cosplay. Some of these are listed below.</p> <ol> <li> <div align="justify"><strong>Cosplay can be an act of fandom – or an act of obsession.</strong> Many anime and comic book fans want to cosplay their favorite characters. Simply put, they are true-blue fans. However, some people develop a certain obsession, where cosplay becomes an integral part of it.</div> </li> <li> <div align="justify"><strong>Cosplay opens up a new breed of discrimination. </strong>One of the negative aspects of cosplay is that it makes many cosplayers prone to discrimination. They are discriminated in terms of gender (where males seem to have a lower rank than females), looks (where less-than-pretty cosplayers are laughed at or criticized), weirdness (where certain cosplayers are immediately dubbed weird or eccentric), and race (where cosplayers who do not look Japanese are frowned upon). For instance, try looking up the most popular cosplayers and you are bound to see handsome or pretty faces who look Japanese.</div> </li> <li> <div align="justify"><strong>Cosplay gives the world a wrong portrait of Japanese culture. </strong>Many, though not all, cosplayed characters are actually Japanese in origin. A lot of fictional characters imitated by cosplayers come from Japanese anime, mangga, or graphic novels. However, cosplayers portray these Japanese characters as whimsical or cutesy, sometimes saying <em>sayonara</em> or <em>kawaii</em>, both japanese words, in little, high-pitched voices. FYI, the falsetto voices are deemed disrespectful by the Japanese as they seem to mock the Japanese race. The inaccurate portrayal of anime characters by cosplayers are seen by the Japanese as “cheap imitation”.</div> </li> <li> <div align="justify"><strong>Cosplay encourages people to address their self-esteem, self-confidence, or self-image issues by “shedding one’s real personality”. </strong>There is nothing wrong with wearing a costume – but if you wear it because it boosts your confidence, then you spring back to your low self-esteem once the costume is taken off, then therein lies the problem. Instead of allowing young people to explore their true selves, they learn to hide behind masks and feel better by pretending to be someone else. The real self is discarded, as it does not produce the same satisfaction as the fantasy self. In this way, cosplay, for many shy youngsters who have self-image issues, becomes a form of escapism.</div> </li> <li> <div align="justify"><strong>The world of cosplay, just like the world of of modeling, may give the youth unrealistic expectations of what they should be. </strong>False lashes, contact lenses that increase the size of one’s pupils, and wigs have become quite popular in the non-cosplay world, a phenomenon encouraged by cosplay. Many youngsters now look at these accessories as indispensible. Some cosplay critics believe that cosplay discourages people to be who they are, that it keeps people from being comfortable in their own skin while promoting a culture of pretense.</div> </li> <li> <div align="justify"><strong>Cosplay also promotes the objectification of women.</strong> A lot of cosplayers will shun the idea of wearing plunging necklines in real life, but will not hesitate to wear skimpy costumes for cosplay. Many cosplay fans actually admire cosplayers because of their skimpy attire. Female cosplayers are objectified this way, earning the wrath of many feminists. There is a subset of cosplay that revolves around sex appeal: cosplayers actually choose very revealing, sometimes very explicit, costumes. To be blunt, cosplay has become the perfect excuse for many young women to wear inappropriate clothes under the guise of self-expression.</div> </li> </ol> <p align="justify"><font size="4"><strong>And before you call yourself or cosplayers as “otaku”…</strong></font></p> <p align="justify">In Japan, otaku has a negative impression. Decades ago, an “otaku” kidnapped many young girls and took videos of their dead bodies. This otaku serial killer has caused a lot of panic in Japan. Ever since, most Japanese think that to be called “otaku” is very insulting.</p> <p align="justify">Many cosplay fans and cosplayers will beg to differ. But more and more people are getting diagnosed with cosplay sickness syndrome, where people who witness cosplay develop a severe aversion towards it. More psychological profiling needs to be done before the <strong>benefits and negative aspects of cosplay</strong>, from psychological, psychiatric, and social points of view, are properly identified.</p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com31tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5639148004793096706.post-2653720153954778302011-11-15T22:55:00.001-08:002011-11-15T22:55:19.495-08:00Summit Magazine Subscription Problems<p align="justify">Two months ago, I paid for a fashion magazine subscription from Summit Publishing. I was told that I would receive my first magazine after two months – that’s this month. However, I have received no magazine thus far. Nothing. Nada. Zip.</p> <p align="justify">I decided to call Summit at their hotline. On my first call, I was redirected by a recording to the subscription department. However, nobody was there to take my call. Twenty calls later, the same thing kept happening.</p> <p align="justify"><img style="margin: 0px auto; display: block; float: none" title="summit subscription problems" alt="summit subscription problems" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-8DEdukwl8MQ/TsNeU3WhJNI/AAAAAAAAAek/OXQTxOHobX8/summit%252520subscription%252520problems%25255B5%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="341" height="439" /></p> <p align="justify">I’ve been trying to call Summit’s subscription department for more than a week, to no avail. Perhaps they just put up the phone number extension for that department so that they can say they do have that department. But contacting them is so much harder than you think.</p> <p align="justify">I wonder, am I the only person who experienced this hassle before? Lesson learned: no more subscriptions from Summit! The Trinket Princess needs to get her fashion fix somewhere else. Thank God for online magazines! </p> <p align="justify">If you have been having problems with your magazine subscriptions, tell me your story by leaving a comment below.
