Music Feature: Rendezvous

A new syndrome called adrenal fatigue is an emerging trend in the world of medicine. Perhaps it’s a fancy way of saying “burnout”, but it still is a wakeup call for everyone who try to spread themselves too thin. If you drive your body to its limits, it stops producing certain hormones like adrenaline and you run out of gas. The result: your entire body crashes and burns.

It is high time for our generation to learn to unwind and relax any way we can. Some people say they simply don’t have the money to get a massage, or they don’t have time to take a break. Thankfully, getting in touch with your inner self and letting go of stress is possible when you listen to music, such as the jazz-electropop songs by the band Rendezvous.

Take note, however, that although Rendezvous’ three previous tracks were jazz electropop, their debut album, coming out this year, is an even more complicated conglomeration of genres. But take heart; although their songs seem like a paradox that sounds like it requires effort for you to appreciate, the opposite is true: Rendezvous’ songs are a breath of fresh air in a polluted planet like ours.

Try listening to their track So What and you will see what I mean. Although their songs do make you feel more serene, they don’t lull you to sleep. Their songs have a certain focus of interest that make you want to bob your head in response. Listen to Rendezvous and you’ll forget about the toxic atmosphere of your workplace, or the many dishes you haven’t done yet. Even better, you can play their music and feel like you have the energy to go an extra mile.

To listen to their previous songs, visit Rendezvous’ website, www.rendezvousmusic.co.uk, and find out why more than 600,000 people have watched their videos on YouTube through Rendezvous’ channel.

Fashion in the Philippines: How It Fares

In the past, fashion in the Philippines has been like a mirror: reflective of what others have been doing in the fashion forefront. However, much has changed since the first time ateliers became the Pinay’s haven for fashion. Nowadays, fashion in the Philippines is bolder, bigger, better.

Talking about fashion in the Philippines is like describing the milestones of a baby. Fashion in the Philippines took its first few steps before it started running on its own, sometimes stumbling and fumbling for a good foothold; but after thriving in a culture of coyness, fashion in the Philippines is finally shedding its façade of introversion. Fashion, in the Philippines at least, represents the evolution of the Filipinos’ way of living and thinking as they move on to a more assertive phase in their social growth.

“Fashion in the Philippines is finally shedding its facade of introversion.”

Speaking of fashion in the Philippines, fashion in Asia has reportedly been stealing the limelight from the center of fashion itself: Europe. Yes, much is being said about how Asia is revamping the world of couture and street wear. In keeping with this meaningful change, fashion in the Philippines is also blooming, albeit late, and arguably showing its true colors for the first time.

I was once asked by a Filipino immigrant how fashion in the Philippines has been doing since she left the country. I had to tell her that fashion in the Philippines has had a makeover, what with more and more designers making their debut in the international scene. Fashion in the Philippines has been receiving a good rap after well-known Filipino designers started marking the world with the unmistakable talent of Filipinos. And yes, we Pinoys and Pinays are quite proud.

Although fashion in the Philippines has a lot to improve on in terms of the online market, I have a feeling we will get there soon enough. Fashion in the Philippines will be heard and seen more, if only more people blog about it.

Fashion, in the Philippines and anywhere else, is not just superficiality. It is a manner of expression, a self-realization, an externalization of how much you have gotten to know yourself. Fashion is not just about trends – it is also about style and, just like any other art form, is one of the many ways we can showcase our creativity. Anyone who clucks their tongue in disapproval of fashion is just plain ignorant.

Flower Pins, Clutch Bags, and Leather Bracelets

I have shown the flower pins available in the previous posts. But it’s always a lot better to showcase how the flower pins actually work together with your outfit.

Use a flower pin of a bold hue, like red or fuchsia pink, to add a splash of color to a black and white ensemble:

How To Be A Trinket Princess

princess trinketIt doesn’t take a genius to be a Trinket Princess. All it takes is some ingenuity, the willingness to take your stand on what accessories do the magic for you… and, of course, there’s the crown that every Trinket Princess has to wear.

Although I am currently the one and only Trinket Princess, there shall soon be many others. My title, sadly, shall not be exclusive as time passes by. But I do take small comfort in the fact that there is no other Trinket Princess in the Philippines other than myself.\

If you want to sit on my throne someday, then I am more than willing to show you the ropes. I may be the Trinket Princess, but I’m not snotty royalty! ^_^

So, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to be a Trinket Princess:
  1. Know your personal style. Have you defined yourself in terms of your very own taste in fashion? To be a Trinket Princess, you have to know who you are before you can wear the much coveted crown.
  2. Have a wide and varied collection of accessories. Do you love bags? Brooches? Pins? Earrings, bangles, bracelets, necklaces? Jewelry? How about scarves? Do you invest in great accessories? You must – if you want to become a Trinket Princess in your own right.
  3. Know your terms. What’s the difference between a scarf and a shawl? Do you know what a pashmina is? Can you spot a raffia if you see one? Being a Trinket Princess means learning more about the terms you shall use everyday as the absolute princess of accessories!
  4. Practice what you preach. As a Trinket Princess, I have to be able to talk the talk and walk the walk. If I didn’t use accessories in real life, I’d be a phony, not royalty! To be regal is to be real; so, if you want to be a Trinket Princess, start wearing those accessories, pronto!
  5. Lastly, prepare for the crown. The crown that a Trinket Princess wears is heavy – figuratively, that is. The title of “Trinket Princess” is not to be taken lightly! Learn to wear your crown with pride and share your wisdom with the people who adore your regal wit. Being a Trinket Princess is not just about appearances; it is also about having substance to boot.

Online Shopping in the Philippines

Do you do online shopping in the Philippines? With the advent of the world wide web, internet marketing, and the widespread use of the internet for almost anything and everything, online shopping in the Philippines is fast becoming a trend. Online shopping, in the Philippines, is more convenient than in the United States because shipping here takes less than a week. In the U.S., shipping can take anywhere from one to two months.

Online shopping in the Philippines, however, still needs a few more milestones before it becomes the norm rather than the exception. Most online shopping in the Philippines involves people into clothes and fashion. The downside of this is that it’s rather hard to shop for clothes that you can’t fit on or even touch. As a result, online shopping in the Philippines is taking its sweet time before it goes into full bloom.

“Online shopping in the Philippines is starting to catch on.”

Because many fashionistas are now online and counting on the internet for fashion trends and style updates, online shopping in the Philippines has a real chance of becoming the next big thing. Although shopping online for clothes is still a big question mark, other items, such as bags and accessories, are easier to market on the internet. Because bags and accessories don’t need much fitting, more fashionistas are willing to do online shopping in the Philippines for these items.

In fact, a lot of businesses with their own real-world stores actually have online stores as well. That’s because their customers will always have the chance to do their shopping online. Online shopping, in the Philippines, isn’t very complicated because our country is much smaller than other Western countries. Having a bag or accessory delivered door to door doesn’t take too much time and is actually quite affordable.

Aside from bags and accessories, online shopping in the Philippines also involves bag hooks, laptop bags, pet carriers, and even cakes and pastries. A quick look at www.ebay.ph reveals how many Filipinos shop online everyday.

It is a good thing that online shopping in the Philippines is starting to catch on. This should help small businesses flourish, giving the Philippine economy a little shove. And of course, people like myself who are passionate about fashion can now share our passion with the rest of the Philippines – online, that is. ^_^
